Pickleball check-in app: QR self check-in for open play

Updated

DinkPro is a free pickleball check-in app for open play. Players scan one QR code, find or add their name and land straight in the queue, while the host can check anyone in with a tap, even offline. Late arrivals join the current rotation at the back of the queue instead of jumping ahead.

How do I set up check-in for open play?

1. Add your regulars

Type the names you expect before the session. Players not on the list can add themselves later.

2. Go Live and show the QR

Tap Go Live. The share window shows one QR code that players scan to check in or see their stats.

3. Players check themselves in

Each player finds their name or adds it. The host's board adds them to the queue within a few seconds.

4. Check in the rest by tap

Anyone without a phone gets checked in from the roster with one tap, online or offline.

How does QR self check-in work?

The host taps Go Live and shows the QR code. A player scans it with their phone camera, taps I'm on the list to find their name or Add my name if they are new, and is placed in the queue. No app and no account. After checking in they see their live view: their court, their place in the queue and their stats.

What happens when a player arrives late?

A late arrival goes to the back of the queue and is credited with the median games of the players already there. That keeps them level with a typical player in the room: they do not jump ahead to make up missed games, and they do not wait behind everyone either. Anyone who checks in more than 20 minutes after the start gets a LATE badge, and the Late Player Queue holds them a short turn before they join.

Can the host still check players in by hand?

Yes. Every name on the roster has a Check in button, and the host can Pause a player who needs a break or Check out someone who has left. Host check-in runs on the device itself, so it works with no internet at all.

How does check-in work for Ranked games?

Ranked players scan the Ranked QR on the host's screen with their player profile. The code changes every 30 seconds, and the host verifies it is them before they play. Their ranked games then move their DinkPro Player Rating (DPR).

Check-in questions

Is there a free pickleball check-in app?

Yes. DinkPro is free and runs in the browser. The host needs no login, and players check in by scanning a QR code with no app and no account. The same app then runs the rotation, scores and standings.

Do players need to download an app to check in?

No. Scanning the QR opens a web page in the phone's browser. The player finds or adds their name and taps once. Their phone then shows their court, their place in the queue and their stats.

Does check-in work without internet?

Host check-in does: the roster, queue and rotation all live on the host's device. QR self check-in needs internet on both the host device and the player's phone, because the request travels between them. If the connection drops, the host keeps checking people in by tap.

Can a player check in a friend?

Yes. After checking in, the success screen offers Check in a friend, so one phone can add a partner who has no phone with them. A name that is already checked in is refused, so nobody ends up in the queue twice.

Can I turn self check-in off?

Yes. Switch Self check-in off in the session settings and the QR becomes a view-only link to the live board. Tournaments always use host check-in, so entries and the draw stay under the organizer's control.
